Today’s learning

Some people think having a big villa and money mean wealth;
having an attractive job title means success  and happiness;
an attractive job title means growing;
they think their luck can last forever.
But ….
At end there is nothing they can take with them (including us).
A big house without a loving family, it is nothing but just a  building made by cement and stones;
Money can pay for sex but can’t buy true love;
the wealth, name and fame perhaps are not illusion now, but all will become air;
It’s not matter how much one has, it can’t buy health and life.

$/€ or job title regardless how much or how significant won’t last forever, at end we all have to learn how to face the inner self with a clear consciousness.

No one is perfect, we all made mistakes in life but the question is what have we learnt from those stupid and painful mistakes. A mistake without learning in life means loss, vice versa means enrichment. The worst damage  one can do him/herself is to continue telling lies and can’t face his/her consciousness in a cup of clear water.
Tea is more than just about learning to brew tea leaves with water, it is a learning process to face ourselves and reach the inner peace. With tea we learn the essence of keeping clarity in mind with calm, purity and tranquility by keeping head down and focus on the beauty and wisdom of simplicity.

Newsletter #1

It’s more than 50 years and today I still remain as an exciting “young” student of tea learning. I keep my mind opened and do not set the limit of my learning, as long as information are accurate and honest.

We love tea for its purity, simplicity, honesty and health, when we learn tea, we are not just about learning tea but we learn the way of health through a cup of tea that leads us to the learning of implementing the learning in the way of life.

Tea is in life and I am in tea. When we share, we expand the learning and enrich our life.

Love, don’t wait

Love is not just about telling each others that “I love you” but it is about honest devotion and actions to share life forever. The good time is easy but how about when is old, sick and having bad time?
Today there are still many wo/men take their vows to the relationship casually. They calculate and expect to gain something in return in life.  But the love that they think they have by calculating and expecting in return can really last for long time? Well, put the index finger in the air and hope the wind will blow the way they want is going to be a stressful learning process when the time slips through their fingers without knowing.
A young presenter that I met in the Mederhedenforum made a great conclusion to the situation when wo/man chooses to break the family apart because s/he found a ‘new’ love; those who only think about what s/he wants but forget their responsibilities and obligations to the family and children, he said “If you were not able to commit, then don’t start to bring children to this world”. It sounds hard and strong, but it is a true advice.

In the school, children learn knowledge and skills to survive in the competitive world, but only in the family, children learn how to become a good human being. When you are growing up and enjoying new achievement at work, your parents are getting old every day.  The thought of “Wait until one day” probably will never come if you don’t action to show your love and passion to your parents in time.  Because time won’t wait.

Moisture-proof agent in tea bag

Often in the tea bag or package there is a small bag of moisture-proof agent.  What do you do with it after you open the tea bag?

First of all, it absorbs moisture and to keep tea leafs dried when they packed the tea in bag.

Once the bag is opened, tea leafs are once again engage with air.

  • If you have a vacuum packaging machine, then it’s OK to keep it in the bag.
  • If you don’t have the vacuum packaging machine, then it is better to take it out.

Because I don’t think you want your tea absorbs moisture just because this bag absorbs moisture in the air.

Be aware learning trap

It is great to see tea lovers try to share their knowledge about tea with more people. But it is very important to get the basic knowledge right first.

In one of the Youtube video clip that I was invited to take a look today, I was surprised when I saw the presenter introduced White Tea first by saying that white tea is coated with white hair and it’s the first choice of 1 or 2 leafs.

I think first of all, white tea is not always have white hair coating. There are different types of white tea; the difference is because of quality grades, each is named differently as well, also the oxidation processes are different in the production.

Due to limit of time, so it is not possible for me to go through with him. Also it is hard to help someone to learn more about tea without being able to share a cup of tea together.

Tea is simple, but there are much to learn; its complexity is because of its simplicity. Learning the right things is important and leaning things right is even more important.

Today there are many unconsolidated information posted on line.  Unless you have the correct basic knowledge, otherwise can be easily mislead without knowing. To those who love tea and would like to learn more about tea, my suggestion is to find a good teacher as coach or mentor.

Imperfect creates perfect

What is perfect?

Is it a piece of object that’s beautiful and shinning, almost perfect?

Or, is it the past memory that accompanies me quietly that moves my heart that we shared a valuable learning together?

It’s speechless, but it does not mean I do not remember;

It’s no words, but it does not mean I do not feel in my heart.

It is not what I got only from tea

but it is a calm and peaceful moment that we shared together.

Learning from tea time

There are four seasons in a year, there are many different phases in life.  In each season and each phase in life, we all face the challenge of how to manage the adapting and changes.  There is no right or wrong because it is the choice one makes for her/himself.
I started the learning of tea and Chinese tea culture in 1985, the more I learn the more I love it and I am still learning.   Of course, choosing the right and good quality pure tea is important in the process.  I learnt to listen to my body.
What inspire me  is more than tea itself, but the calm, peace, tranquility and harmony when taking time to enjoy a cup of tea.

Additional Tea Benefits

Tea caught the attention of many researchers in the world, through scientific methods now many studies found some teas may help with cancer, heart disease and diabetes; encourage weight loss and to lower cholesterol, and it appears to have antimicrobial qualities.  Certainly tea helps to facilitates the emotional distress process that is what medicines can’t solve.

Indeed, tea has many health benefits, but still it has limit that it can’t solve the following problems:

  • Unrequited love – what you can do is stepping out from your comfort zone and practice more on gentle social skills in face-to-face social events. Love is not something you can ask, but should learn to feel and to appreciate the moment.
  • Over weight – Yes, Vitamins and caffeine in tea can help to loss weight, but tea is not medicine.  One must consider how to manage the balance life style but not just depending on tea. Each person is unique, so start to listen and work with your own body.
  • Hypoactive – the learning and practice of Chinese tea arts help you to relax through concentration with calm, peace and simplicity.
  • Sleeping problem – Pay attention to adjust the life style.  Visit friends who enjoy simple life style often are patient listeners and enjoy a peaceful tea time together. Learn to adjust the breathing technique, it is not which tea can relax you, it is how you can relax yourself.
  • Impulsive and bully – If you felt tense easily, it is often you are perfectionist and impatient.  Learn how to brew tea correctly with ceramic tea ware but not porcelain.  Learn  to appreciate diversity from flavor and taste in different tea and the warmth from clay.
  • Loneliness – Even when you are alone with a cup of tea, you are never alone, because there is another you in the cup and another one in the shadow. If you still feel lonely, then invite friends to organize a tea gathering, because those who appreciate tea normally are honest and kind in heart.
  • Temperament – can extend the advice from impulsive and bully further by inviting friends to enjoy a peaceful tea time with pure quality tea  together.

All noises will automatically be smoothened out when you enjoy the moment of peace, harmony and tranquility with a cup of pure tea.

The Fountain of Innocent

Every year when it comes close to the Chinese New Year, the memory of helping parents to prepare for the Chinese New Year when I was young brought back a lot of sentimental feeling and gratefulness.

Put on a natural incense
Under a relaxing Chinese traditional music
Holding the thought of love and gratitude to my parents who are close in my heart to enjoy a pot of wild black tea from the birth place of my Dad, Hunan.

Even though they are no longer with me, but they are always in my heart, in my love and in every cup. My heart is pure as tea. the child-like innocent is still freshly alive in my heart that keeps me move on further.

One may not forget her/his root; the higher one wants to grow, the deeper the root much grow;
One may not forget who s/he is; because the greatest comfort in life must come from the inner peace;
One may not forget what made of her/him; the world is changing so as life, but one should always remember who s/he is;
One may not lose her/his own child innocent; the fountain of innocent bring peace and harmony till the last day in life.

Learning from Tea

My mother was not a tea specialist, actually she has many health problems, that’s why she paid a lot of attention of what we eat and drink.  She always has the right and wise answers to my wacky questions.  Mom was a champion of using different Chinese medicinal herbs in daily cooking according to the change of season. From Mom I learned the wisdom of wok in Chinese kitchen, it further helped me to understand the importance of choose the right quality tea and steeping it correctly to the person I serve the tea according to their conditions.  The Confucius teachings from Dad then helped me to realise the importance of keeping a good balance by following the Zhong Yong (中庸) not only in tea steeping but also handling problems in life.

When I was very young, my mother helped me to establish a clear understanding about what is tea.   Tea is more than many different kind of tea that we normally know that made from Camellia sinensis, but also include other beverages (which are normally warm) that are good for health and we drink  in a cup. It does not matter what kind of tea, the important to bear the following things in mind:

  • Authentic quality
  • Pure & natural flavor and taste
  • Brewing or steeping correctly
  • Consume based on understanding own health at the time
  • Never to stick to one all the time, adjust with care

The above principle can and should be applied not only for tea made from Camellia sinensis or blended infusion or blending medicinal herbs.  After all health is more important to each individual than to compete and to prove who is right or now, which one is better or bad or what much do one have.

The preference in flavor and taste is very subjective which we need to learn to listen and to respect. The attitude towards to tea is same as to life.

Tea is more than a cup of tea, it is a reflection of attitude towards life.  It quietly opens a door of life-time learning for us.
